After having given us last year the vision and commitments that Fountaine Pajot wanted to take through theOdyssea 2024 plan, Romain Motteau, Deputy CEO, comes back on this year which has been rich in innovation and evolution. He comes back on the objectives that Fountaine Pajot had set itself, and their progress today, on the partnership with WWF for the protection of the Posidonia, and on the launch of the Aura 51 Smart Electric, which marks a big step in the decarbonization of the nautical industry.
ODYSSEA 24, an ambitious plan to become carbon neutral by 2030?
“Aware of the urgency of preserving the planet, we are living through a great cultural change and the new generation expects much of us at the dawn of this new era and these realizations. Our owners are also changing their needs and today expect their boat to be more environmentally responsible, while maintaining a high level of demand in terms of comfort.” Romain Motteau.
Three goals have been set to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030:
- Reduce CO2 emissions from thermal engines by developing electric propulsion and helping owners understand how they can reduce engine and generator time. A first electric propulsion version has just been launched as a demonstrator, and we will develop if for the motor range in the next few years.
- Reduce impact of construction materials, particularly wood and glass fibre and resin. Fountaine Pajot thus aims to use much more organic-based and recycled materials in the construction phase of its catamarans. We are currently working on such a prototype.
- Reduce the impact of our industrial footprint with a more virtuous production system, through significant investments in our factories to limit and recover waste.

ODSea Lab depends on our design office, our suppliers and all our staff to succeed in our project to transform and decarbonize sailing. Thanks to this collective energy, we will become the leasers of the environmental transition of sailing. Other projects are being developed, such as the integration of hydrogen engines, with a first prototype to be presented to the press, the nautical industry and our customers very soon.” Romain Motteau.
