For this first episode, we chose to take you inside the new generation of our catamarans, marked by a complete and in-depth transformation of our entire Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans range.
Through this format, our design, engineering and development teams share the story behind this new generation. The objective is clear: to explain our choices, give meaning to the evolutions we have made, and show how real-life onboard use has guided every decision. More than a succession of new models, this first Nautic Broadcast highlights our global vision of sailing, focused on comfort, energy efficiency and long-lasting enjoyment at sea.
Nautic Broadcast #6 – Why a fully renewed range?
23:03
With this new range, we have initiated a true turning point. As we explain in this first Nautic Broadcast, the evolution goes far beyond the introduction of new models and is rooted in a long-term, in-depth reflection carried out over several years.
Design, onboard use and ambition were addressed together in a cross-functional approach to build a coherent, clear and sustainable range. Smooth sailing, optimized volumes, improved energy management and an overall step up in quality form the foundations of this renewal. Our objective remains unchanged: to offer greater comfort and functionality while maintaining the right balance between performance, usability and accessibility.
This renewal is built around four new models within the Sailing Catamarans range.
First comes the FP41, which leads the way and succeeds the Isla 40, with more than 500 units produced. More spacious and better connected to the outdoors, she clearly reflects the shipyard’s evolution toward brighter interiors and more intuitive onboard circulation. She introduces a wide range of new features, including sun loungers on the aft transoms, a new plancha, a large forward serving hatch, and a helm station with a completely redesigned dashboard.
The FP44 comes next, streamlining a highly strategic segment by replacing both the Astréa 42 and the Elba 45, two iconic models of the brand, each produced in more than 300 units.
She brings together what we now aim to offer: more space, ergonomics designed for long-term living on board, and a resolutely contemporary architecture. The lounge deck, measuring nearly 11 m², stands out as a dedicated, welcoming area designed for true moments of relaxation. Aft, the cockpit benefits from an even wider sliding glass door opening, while additional seating features redesigned upholstery for enhanced comfort.
Further up the range, the FP48 succeeds the Tanna 47. It gains in modularity, usable volume and ease of use, with particular attention paid to circulation between the living spaces. Owners will recognize the brand’s signature features, presented in a more contemporary and refined interpretation.
The FP48 incorporates all the new comfort features introduced on the FP41 and FP44, while taking this promise even further. The redesigned central island in the saloon offers increased storage space, along with a larger and more accessible refrigerator. Thanks to her longer hulls, the FP48 can also be configured with up to five cabins in its quintet version, providing genuine versatility.
Finally, within this redesigned range, the FP55 stands apart, as she does not replace any existing model. She introduces a true change of scale. New and unique within this family of yachts, she features a sheltered flybridge designed as a genuine navigation station and an additional living space, along with a forward door directly linking the saloon to the foredeck, creating a transverse circulation unprecedented for a catamaran of this size.
This positioning makes the FP55 a new benchmark for cruisers seeking a large yacht that is comfortable, accessible, distinctive and focused on innovation.
While this step upmarket is clearly reflected in the volumes and layouts, we made sure never to lose sight of sailing performance. The work carried out on balance, hull design, weight distribution and deck circulation aims to preserve safe, reassuring handling at sea.
Rather than setting performance against comfort, this new generation seeks an overall balance, ensuring the true spirit of sailing remains intact, even with more comprehensive equipment on board. An approach that stays true to Fountaine Pajot’s DNA.
This new generation of catamarans also stands out through a native design approach, developed from the outset to integrate the new ODSea+ propulsion solutions. Fountaine Pajot is thus continuing the energy transition it began several years ago. The new range therefore features a series of innovations, including:
An intuitive hybrid-electric propulsion system, with power adapted to each model,
High-capacity battery packs designed for mixed use, both underway and at anchor,
An energy recovery system at the motor pods to recharge the batteries while sailing,
More efficient solar surfaces, better integrated into the boats’ design,
And optimized onboard energy management through dedicated, custom-developed software.
The objective remains clear: to offer cleaner, more autonomous and quieter catamarans, capable of sustainable cruising without compromising comfort or onboard use.
This new generation is also the result of significant industrial development. We have strengthened our production capabilities, deployed new digital tools and improved assembly precision.
The introduction of shared platforms makes it possible to standardize certain technical elements while preserving each model’s unique identity. This strategy helps ensure better cost control, increased component reliability and a significant simplification of maintenance and after-sales service.
Finally, this clarification of the range and this cycle of innovation continue with the creation of Fountaine Pajot Yachts, the Group’s new brand dedicated to larger units. Already comprising the Samana 59 and the Thíra 80, the brand is further strengthened with the announcement of the FPY70S, replacing the Alegria 67. But the shipyard’s ambitions do not stop there: at the recent Monaco Yacht Show, Fountaine Pajot also unveiled a study for an even more majestic yacht, a super catamaran measuring close to 35 metres, the FPY110S.
By bringing together two clearly defined families — Sailing Catamarans on one side and Yachts on the other — we affirm a clear, modern and ambitious vision. The new models are not simply an evolution of our catalogue; they represent a renewed way of imagining multihull cruising, where real-life onboard use guides structural choices, where comfort progresses without compromising sailing balance, and where every innovation helps simplify and enrich life on board.
