From scuba diving to sailing: A natural progression

Before they discovered a love of sailing, Corinne and Jean-François were familiar motorboats through one of their other passions: scuba diving. Their first experience of sailing was on a monohull, back in 2016, during a trip to the Mediterranean, and it was a revelation. This was the starting point for a new way of conceiving a type of boating that’s more intimate, more respectful of the elements. Following that trip, they quickly abandoned their plans for a house by the sea and turned their thoughts to a catamaran: a true floating home that offers them incomparable freedom to explore new horizons while remaining close to the sea.

The Tanna 47 for sailing two-handed

A well-considered choice

The couple took the time to try out several charter models before settling on the Tanna 47. “We tested several brands, but we always came back to the Saona 47, then to the Tanna 47, which totally won us over”, explains Jean-François. This model stands out for its layout and versatility, in particular thanks to its mid-height helm station. This choice, designed for sailing two-handed, allows the person at the helm to remain in contact with the rest of the crew, an essential asset for safe sailing.

But the comfort doesn’t stop there: Corinne and Jean-François were also won over by the boat’s level of self-sufficiency. Thanks to its large-capacity tanks, watermaker and solar panels, the Tanna 47 allows them to live in total autonomy during their extended stopovers, while remaining connected to all the essentials.

A flexible and unlimited sailing programme

Although their initial plan is to cruise the Mediterranean for two to three years, Corinne and Jean-François are not ruling out a circumnavigation. “We want to take our time, visit places and make the most of it all”, they say. After Spain and the Balearic Islands, a crossing to the Caribbean could be part of their itinerary, with no fixed return date.

Their philosophy is clear: to follow the winds and the weather, with no pressure, while adapting to all the opportunities that arise. They see each stopover as a time of discovery, an enrichment that will allow them to fully savour the freedom of living on the water.

A unique owner experience at Fountaine Pajot

At the International Multihull Show at La Grande-Motte, Corinne and Jean-François decided to make their project a reality and signed up for their catamaran. They were won over by Fountaine Pajot’s family-friendly and accessible approach: “You don’t feel like just a number but really listened to and supported”, they explain. They also praise the excellent relationship between the shipyard and their dealer, Canet Boat Plaisance, which played a key role in their boat-buying adventure.

A new chapter to be written

Today, Corinne and Jean-François are ready to slip the lines and cast off for a new life on the water. The journey aboard their catamaran will be punctuated by the conquest of varied landscapes, the discovery of new cultures and the pleasure of sharing these moments with their loved ones. They see this adventure as an exploration without constraints, where every stopover will be an opportunity for enrichment and sharing. And perhaps, as they sail from anchorage to anchorage, their Mediterranean journey will take an unexpected turn, leading them towards far-flung horizons.
