My Boat and I
Viktor and his family
Isla 40 owner
One year ago, we met Viktor, the future owner of an Isla 40, a catamaran he plans to live aboard with his family. Viktor told us about his passion for sailing and why he chose this model for his forthcoming cruising adventures. His plan is simple: a family trip to discover the world, where each stopover will be an opportunity to enjoy new experiences.
During the course of our meeting, Viktor also talked about what made him choose a catamaran and what he expects from the comfort and layout of his Isla 40. He enthusiastically explained how this boat meets his needs and those of his family, offering both comfort and functionality for making the most of life on board.

Before setting his sights on a catamaran, Viktor first sailed on monohulls. He owned a 34-footer and later, a 41-footer, but it was after spending a week on a catamaran in Mallorca that he realised this type of boat offered undeniable advantages for family cruising. The catamaran combines space, comfort and stability, essential qualities for living on board while exploring the world.
When the Fountaine Pajot Isla 40 appeared on the Norwegian market, Viktor was immediately won over. He appreciated the quality of construction, the meticulous finish and, above all, the sailing performance that meets the expectations of the most demanding sailors. For him, the Isla 40 represents the perfect balance between comfort, safety and sailing. He particularly likes the helmsman’s position, which offers excellent visibility while keeping you protected from the elements, a crucial factor for peaceful and enjoyable sailing with the family.
Viktor is in no hurry: his plan is to set off and discover the world slowly, at his own pace, without setting himself a rigid schedule. The Pacific remains his ultimate destination, but before that, he intends to enjoy every leg of his journey. His itinerary is set to start in the Mediterranean, sailing to Greece and Turkey, then across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. A transit of the Panama Canal could then take him to explore the Pacific. But for Viktor, each stopover will be an adventure in itself, without pressure, listening to all the opportunities that the world has to offer.
Sharing this experience as a family is paramount. The Isla 40 was chosen not only for its exceptional performance, but also for its ideal configuration for life on board. The boat offers enough space to comfortably accommodate the whole family and their guests. Viktor has also planned to fit out a forward cabin for their daughter, so that she can live there when she is older. Every detail has been designed to make life on board both enjoyable and functional, creating the perfect space for the whole family.
For Viktor and his family, the project is still evolving, but it’s already clear that their adventure is just beginning. “It’s about doing what you want to do, without waiting,” says Viktor. With the prospect of a circumnavigation aboard their Isla 40, Viktor and his family are embarking on a journey that will connect them to the sea and bring them closer together.
Having taken this decisive step, they will be able to enjoy their new life at sea to the full, with all its discoveries, encounters and shared moments. Through their stories, their project will inspire those dreaming of freedom and adventure. Viktor’s message is simple: there is no perfect moment to start, you just have to make that decision and jump right in.
