ANSE MARCEL

The Rendezvous’ first regatta comprised two legs: from Grand Case to Sandy Island, then onto Anse Marcel. A divine dinner was held at the Radisson Blu in Anse Marcel with the Budget Marine team officiating the prize giving ceremony.

TINTAMARRE – PINEL ISLAND

This special eco-cruising day saw the fleet enjoy idyllic cruising before mooring in Tintamarre. The participants were welcome by Nicolas Maslach who delivered an informative session about St. Martin Nature Reserve, a 30 square kilometre Marine Protected Area located northeast of St. Martin island. This remarkable association protects the island’s five main eco-systems (coral reefs, mangroves, phanerogam seagrass beds, and coastal lakes and dry forests), while also managing the 14 lakes of the Coastal Protection Agency and their 11 kilometres of natural shorelines.  Fountaine Pajot’s Eco-Cruising concept was highlighted at the session, and the group then embarked on an enlightening exploration of the surrounding environment.

KARIBUNI

Nicolas Maslach presented the actions and goals of the St. Martin Nature Reserve and this was an opportunity to raise a greater awareness of the marine environment among the crews, as well as to discuss the “Eco cruising”, a concept developed by the boatyard, which was recompensed by the Tradewinds award.

The St. Martin Nature Reserve is a 30 km2 (10 sq. miles) Marine Protected Area located northeast of the Island of St. Martin.

Created in 1998, this space protects the island’s five main ecosystems: coral reefs, mangroves, phanerogam seagrass beds, and coastal lakes and dry forests.  The Reserve also manages the 14 lakes of the Conservatoire du littoral (Coastal Protection Agency) and their 11 km (7 miles) of natural shorelines.

SAINT BARTH

The Cruising World Cup was a major highlight of the event. The regatta sailed from Pinel Island to the Anse de Colmbier in St. Barth, and took part on a fabulous water polo match organised by our valued partners, Luc Poupon and François Tolède (Voiles de St-Barth). The fleet was given a warm welcome at the Gustavia Quay of Honour by Mr Bruno Magras, President of the Overseas Territory of St. Barthélemy, Mr. Michel Magras, Senator of St. Barthélemy, and Mr Nils Dufau, Vice-President of the Overseas Territory of St. Barthélemy and President of the Territorial Tourist Board of St. Barth.

The sumptuous dinner was held at the Do Brazil, with prizes awarded by Cruising World editor Mark Pillsbury.
